This course has been presented to let educated professionals judge for themselves if dental plaque could be linked to a different kind of organism. Even the skeptics may find the theory to have scientific merit. Science and chemistry are the basis for this theory. To review the course, the key point is that minerals are formed only in an alkaline environment. Mineralization needs water, mineral resources and oxidation. The missing ingredient that Kajander and Folk have thrown into the equation is plaque bacteria. Plaque bacteria because the minerals have to attach to some kind of live particle. To show a connection of plaque bacteria from calcareous rock and plaque bacteria found in human blood and bovine blood, a common medium must link the two species together. That common link is water. Assuming that plaque bacteria form dental plaque, a treatment plan can be implemented. The plan must include lowering the pH, changing the magnetic field and altering the ions in water. The supplemental treatment is basically the same treatment that Holistic Doctors have been using for 50 years. Use of enzymes, antioxidants and probiotic have been used to promote digestion and reverse dysbiosis. Perhaps the most convincing evidence is that calcium crystals kill fibroblasts. Also, in vitro, plaque bacteria deplete the media of all calcium and phosphates. These two facts show that plaque bacteria may form dental plaque that results in periodontal disease. Pocket formation and bone loss are the two key signs of periodontal disease. The National Institute of Health gave a rebuttal to existence of Nanobacteria. They did establish that not only blood contains the precurser of plaque but so does saliva. Precurser of plaque may be a better description of plaque bacteria. They believe that plaque is really an apatite formation similar to bone. Yet, even bone needs a precurser or protein to form calcium deposits. The most convincing evidence of dental plaque is that there must be oxidation before plaque formation. Oxidation means that there must be an excess of free electrons. Oxidation of minerals can not occur in an acid environment. It makes no difference what kind or precurser is involved, plaque can form only in a high alkaline environment.
The final link of plaque bacteria to periodontal disease is that plaque bacteria may be responsible for thickening of blood associated with heart disease. Dental Schools have taught that there is some possible connection between periodontal disease and heart disease. Existence of plaque bacteria could be the missing link. Proponents of pleomorphism and Stealth pathogens believe that spores of bacteria are the cause of most if not all of the chronic degenerative diseases. Even the New Germ Theory of Ewald teaches of the existence of spores that live in the body for many years before they cause a severe disease. Ewald believes that most if not all lethal diseases will eventually be linked to some kind of bacteria. PBS, and other documentary television programs are contending that medicines and germ warfare have become a failure and that resistant strains of pathogenic bacteria are growing out of control.
The recent terrorist attack on the World Trade Center has brought out awareness of the possibility of Biological warfare. The lesson to learn from war is that whenever there are weapons to destroy any kind of life, the long lasting result will be more destructive to our society. Before it is too late, man must realize that only natural remedies are safe.
The case and evidence of the New theory of plaque has been presented. Unfortunately, very few products have been marketed to target resistant plaque bacteria. It is up to the ingenuity of dentists to incorporate present day products into treatment of dental plaque and periodontal disease. By lowering the pH, changing the magnetic field and altering the ions in water, the dentist will be able to reduce and possibly eliminate plaque. There can be no cure if the true cause is not known.
